Professional Excellence & Education
Excellence in ophthalmology requires continuous learning, collaboration, and adherence to the highest ethical standards. Through our affiliations with national organizations, our physicians stay at the forefront of medical advancements, ensuring patients receive state-of-the-art treatment and compassionate care.
American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO)
As active members of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, our physicians participate in a global network of experts dedicated to advancing vision science and patient outcomes. The AAO fosters professional development through ongoing education, research collaboration, and advocacy for ethical standards in patient care.
Membership in the AAO allows our doctors to stay informed about the latest diagnostic techniques, surgical technologies, and evidence-based treatment approaches. This commitment to lifelong learning ensures that every patient at Shaaf Eye Center benefits from cutting-edge ophthalmic medicine rooted in compassion and precision.
American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO)
Our board certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology represents the gold standard in ophthalmic practice. The ABO certification process is rigorous and ongoing, requiring physicians to demonstrate exceptional skill, knowledge, and dedication to patient safety.
This distinction assures patients that our ophthalmologists meet the highest national benchmarks for quality and ethics in surgery, medical management, and patient communication. It also signifies our pledge to remain lifelong learners—constantly refining our expertise to deliver the safest, most effective treatments possible.
Giving Back to Orange County & Beyond
At Shaaf Eye Center, we believe that everyone deserves access to quality vision care—regardless of income, background, or circumstance. That’s why our doctors and staff dedicate time and resources to outreach initiatives both in our local community and around the world.
Orange County Charity Eye Care with the Illumination Foundation
In partnership with the Illumination Foundation, our team provides complimentary vision screenings, diagnostic services, and surgical consultations for individuals facing housing instability or financial hardship in Orange County. These free clinics are designed to detect preventable causes of blindness early and to connect those in need with life-changing treatments.
This collaboration reflects our unwavering belief that the gift of sight is universal—and that access to compassionate care can transform lives, restoring both vision and hope.
Orange County Society of Ophthalmology & Surgical Eye Expedition (SEE)
Our physicians are also proud participants in the Orange County Society of Ophthalmology and volunteers with Surgical Eye Expedition (SEE) International. Through these programs, we contribute our surgical expertise to underserved populations locally and globally.
SEE International missions allow our surgeons to perform advanced cataract and retinal surgeries in remote communities where medical resources are limited. Each mission trip reinforces our core philosophy: that true excellence in medicine means sharing knowledge and care beyond borders.
Our Vision for the Community
Shaaf Eye Center is proud to combine medical expertise with social responsibility. From local screenings to international mission programs, each effort represents our promise to give back and help patients experience life with clarity and confidence.
