Light Adjustable Lens (LAL)

At Shaaf Eye Center, innovation meets personal care. Our experienced ophthalmologists are proud to offer the Light Adjustable Lens (LAL), the first and only lens that lets you shape your vision after cataract surgery. That’s not a typo—this lens is adjustable even after it’s implanted. No guesswork. No cookie-cutter outcomes. Just sharp, custom-tailored sight designed around your life.

What Is the Light Adjustable Lens?

Developed by RxSight™, the LAL is a game-changer in cataract care. Implanted during surgery, this lens can be painlessly adjusted using UV light treatments once your eyes have healed. That means your final prescription gets dialed in with real-world feedback—not based on pre-surgery guesses.

How It Works at Shaaf Eye Center

1. Cataract Surgery: We remove your clouded natural lens and replace it with the LAL, just like any standard cataract procedure.

2. Recovery Time: Over the next 2–3 weeks, your eye heals and your vision begins to stabilize.

3. Light Treatments: Using our in-office Light Delivery Device, your doctor adjusts the lens with UV light to sharpen your vision to your liking.

4. Final Lock-In: When you’re satisfied with the results, we lock the adjustments in place permanently.
